Event Details

This is a self-paced, open entry and open exit workshop conducted completely online.

KITCenter/GeoTech Center virtual workshops are designed to deliver timely content on demand. Workshops may contain video, podcasts, websites, discussion groups and downloadable information. Participants may occasionally be required to participate in online discussions.

This virtual workshop will explore the concepts of remote data collection and use.  This virtual workshop is much more in-depth then most offered in the virtual learning initiative by KITCenter and will require approximately 40 – 60 hours to complete.

This workshop is composed of the following modules, Earth Coordinates and Projections, Physical Properties of Light, Sensing Platforms, GPS, 2D GIS and Imagery. Each of these modules are composed within depth study of the section which includes video and written information.

In this workshop you will also learn the basics of making a map. You will either need to have a local copy of ArcMap (ArcView, ArcEditor, ArcInfo) available or use a remote copy.  If you do not have a local copy, please let us know and we can make available a remote copy that is a fully functional version.

Note: Some of the topics in this workshop will have been covered in the Introduction to GIS virtual workshop series.  The modules on GPS and 2D GIS are the ones which will have overlapping content.
